The Ippocampo Theatre Association a non-profit body, was established in Rome in 1991 to promote and diffuse the culture and practice of expressive language linked to the arts of the stage, theatre and dance, as well as the visual arts, in particular, painting and photography. Since 1995, the Association has been based in Umbria, about 70 kms from Rome, where it organizes its various activities: performances, educational courses, and exhibitions. The choice of interaction with the school world and the "regions" has been solidified with projects in the education field. Given the experience of the creative process and recognition of the biological and anthropological principles of expression, activities have been focused on a multicultural approach to the arts and disciplines that involve body, word, sound and vision.
The Association operates in a variety of contexts, including the highly complex social-cultural realities that exist today with national programmes in which not only artists and experts, but also young students, school teachers and university lecturers collaborate.
